What can you say about a debt settlement company that has been in business for six years? Stable, in it for the long run are things that come to mind. But, there is little information that could be found on the important things like fee structure and categories of complaints against them. One area in which they do get points for is in offering more information than other debt settlement companies.

Debt Resolution Partners has had their membership in the Better Business Bureau revoked. This is a serious thing to have happen because it means that they have failed to live up to standards set by the BBB. When this happens it is usually a result of a more serious issue and in this case, the issue is that the state of California has filed a “desist and refrain” order for operating in the business as a “bill payer, or prorater” without a license. But their website is still up and running and they still list “top settlements” on their website as recently as March 2009. However, there is no web form to sign up for more information and their toll-free number is relegated to the “contact us” web page.

When a debt settlement company has website pages that contain important and critical information about their services and those pages are disabled, then the red flags immediately begin to wave. Such is the case with Superior Debt Solutions. Their website only has two pages that work: the home page and the “contact” page. You cannot get to the pages that give out information about them as a company, or a free review or even FAQ that gives information about how they handle your account as a client.

Serious about debt reduction – that is how you could describe CuraDebt. This is the only website that has been encountered that has an automatic email subscription window that pops up when you visit their website. What they are doing is offering you a free newsletter and also a report on debt negotiation in exchange for your email address which they use to build their distribution list of subscribers in order to build their business by advertising to those who have expressed an interest in their services. It’s a tried and true Internet marketing strategy.

Impact Debt Relief and Impact Debt Settlement are one and the same business based in San Diego, California. They are involved in two types of debt relief: debt settlement and debt management (credit counseling). Does that mean there is a conflict? No, rather, they see both options as viable alternatives to either doing nothing and getting sued by creditors, or filing for bankruptcy. They realize that debt settlement is not right for everyone and that debt management has its place as well.

To begin with, it is difficult to take a debt settlement company serious with a name like “Zoom Credit.” A search on the Better Business Bureau website reveals that, in fact, this company is an auto and truck broker. It must be that their business has led them into the financial services industry which has, in turn, provided the path to offering help on your debt. That appears to be somewhat of a conflict of interest. Furthermore, their website looks like something that you would find in the advertising of a payday loan business. Very suspicious at best.
