| Debt Settlement USA Review |
|
Like other settlement companies, they will negotiate with your creditors on your behalf to get them to forgive a large portion of your unsecured debt. Here are some quick facts about Debt Settlement USA:
About the Company Debt Settlement USA is based in Scottsdale Arizona and is one of the larger debt settlement companies operating today. With the amount of customers they deal with , along come the complaints. According to the Better Business Bureau, as of this writing, they have 105 complaints in the past 36 months, all of which have been resolved. The Program Again, Debt Settlement USA’s program is a typical one, where you pay them every month, into a “savings” account. They are negotiating settlements along the way and when you have enough saved up for the first settlement, it’s taken care of and that debt is gone. DS USA comes up with an affordable monthly payment, based on your total debt to be settled, your income and expenses and set a schedule of payments where you can be totally cleared of your debt within 36 months.
Debt Settlement USA will not disclose on their website how much they charge for their service. They only thing they say about their fees is that “costs are based on an individual basis” and it’s determined by your level of debt, income and living expenses. So now you know to tell them when you call that you make $19,000 per year and have living expenses of $30,000 per year. Really, now do they charge a different fee amount for different people? The only other thing they mention about fees is that your total savings from joining the program will be 40% to 60% of your debt including fees. So you could possibly reach a settlement of 40% with your creditor, only to be charged and additional 20% in fees? This lack of specificity could be a turn off of consumers who are comparing companies. Noteworthy Debt Settlement USA has an all electronic enrollment system, making it fast and efficient to sign up and get rolling. As soon as you’re signed up, they contact your creditors, and let them know that they are now your representative. The company’s website says nothing about whether or not they give refunds, full, partial, or otherwise. Website Experience The website is pretty slick looking and has easy navigation to the vital pages and an FAQ. But the content is pretty thin. Only a few paragraphs on the About Us, How We Work, About Debt, and How to Survive Pages. I think some more information about other options (debt consolidation, bankruptcy, etc.) and whe debt settlement is the best option, would be beneficial for visitors. Also how about some answers on refund policy and fee structure? There’s a blog and an article section, but both offer no additional relevant information about the company, it’s core business, and it adds nothing to the website experience. They seem to be added only as bait for search engine visitors. |
